Aging Research Services (ARS) was developed by the Gerontology Program at UNC Charlotte to assist community agencies, businesses, and the scholarly community with data management, evaluation, and research related to the issues of baby boomers, older adults and aging. ARS faculty are interested in developing collaborative relationships to promote the health, wellness, and well-being of older North Carolinians.
ARS faculty have conducted several studies to date with community-based partners and fellow faculty members at UNC Charlotte and around the country.
- ARS collaborated with the local Area Agency on Aging to conduct an evaluation of a walking program for older adults in our 7 county region and helped develop outcome assessments that can be continuously used by senior centers to track the impact of health promotion programs on attendees.
- ARS recently completed an evaluation study in a skilled nursing facility designed to reduce incontinence and incontinence-related complications among residents.
- ARS faculty mentored UNC Charlotte Gerontology students during an evaluation of the impact of a brain health intervention on residents of a local assisted living facility.
- ARS faculty are also actively working with faculty members across UNC Charlotte on data analysis and evaluation as well as submission of new grant proposals.
